Nissan Announces Senior Leadership Change In North America
August 5, 2019 by NissanNASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan is announcing a change to its management team with the appointment of Peter Smith as senior vice president, Regional Planning, at Nissan North America. This management change comes as the company undertakes an aggressive plan to refresh 70 percent of its U.S. vehicle line-up over the next 20 months and deliver sustainable business performance in the region. 'We continue to shape Nissan's North American leadership team to strengthen our focus on our customers, build on a foundation of trust with our dealers, and transform our product portfolio into one of the freshest in the U.S.,' said José Luis Valls, president and chairman, Nissan North America. 'The addition of Peter Smith to our team will further consolidate our product planning and market intelligence functions to better anticipate customer needs and deliver the innovative products that today's drivers want.' In this newly created Regional Planning role, Smith will be responsible for all product planning, program management office, market intelligence, and strategy & business development activity in North America. He will be based in Franklin, Tennessee. Smith's appointment is effective September 1. He is currently program director, Infiniti Motor Company, based at Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.'s headquarters in Yokohama, Japan. Smith joined Nissan in 2003 and relocated to its Japan operation in 2005 as manager for Light Commercial Vehicle Product Strategy & Product Planning. During his 14 years at Nissan, he held roles of increasing responsibility in Product Planning, Corporate Planning, and Infiniti Program Management.
