CYPRESS, Calif., – Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA), the fastest-growing Asian brand in the U.S. for the second consecutive year*, today announced the promotions of two long-serving executives to senior leadership positions. Angie O'Leary will assume the title of Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer and Jorgen Weterrings will assume the title of Vice President and General Counsel. These promotions are effective immediately.

'Since I joined Mitsubishi Motors North America in April of 2018, one of my highest priorities was to build a world-class executive leadership team that would drive the rapid reinvention of Mitsubishi Motors in the U.S.,' said Fred Diaz, president and CEO, MMNA. 'These promotions add to an enviable group of leaders who are not afraid to challenge perceptions, question everything, and fight to make Mitsubishi Motors a great place to work. Everything we do must be done with our customers – both dealer partners and end-user customers – in mind, and Angie and Jorgen's promotions move us closer to that goal.'

O'Leary joined Mitsubishi in 1988. Since then, she has progressed through all functions of Human Resources and has held management positions over HR Systems, Compensation, Benefits, Organizational Development, and Training, before leading the HR and Corporate Services department in 2014. Most recently she held the position of Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services with the company; she is being promoted into a newly created position. O'Leary holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of California, Irvine.

Weterrings has over 30 years of legal experience. He started his career at MMNA in 2002, joining the company from Toyota Material Handling, where he served as General Counsel. Weterrings developed his auto industry experience as a civil litigator for 10 years, before joining Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., in the role of Managing Counsel. Most recently he held the position of Assistant General Counsel and Director of Legal Affairs with MMNA; he will replace John McElroy, who will retire from MMNA at the end of July after 34 years of service. Weterrings holds a bachelor's degree in US History from Connecticut College, and his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School.
