New Motability Offers On The Updated Volkswagen Golf•Enhanced styling and the latest technology included

•Volkswagen's best seller is enhanced across the range

•New Golf SE 1.0-litre available with no advance payment

Milton Keynes, 24 April 2017 – Volkswagen's updated Golf has joined the Motability scheme. Customers can now order Volkswagen's top selling car and benefit from the variety of revisions that make the Golf more appealing than before.

New styling cues include LED daytime running lights on all Golfs, and the re-profiled front and rear bumpers bring the design of the Golf Mk VII right up to date. The front wings are re-shaped and a range of vibrant new colours and wheel designs are available.

Inside, a new generation of infotainment systems feature larger screens with a higher resolution. From the Golf SE upwards Volkswagen's App-Connect system is included, which means smartphones can be easily synced to the car's infotainment touchscreen. And continuing the ease-of-use theme, models with the optional Discover Navigation Pro infotainment system include Gesture Control, allowing certain menus to be navigated with a simple sweep of a hand.

The updated Golf is spacious, too. The hatchback, in three- or five-door form, has 380 litres of luggage capacity, which increases to 1,270 litres with the rear seats folded down. The Golf Estate meanwhile has 605 litres with the rear seats upright, increasing to 1,620 litres with them folded.

A new 1.5-litre TSI EVO petrol engine debuts in the updated Golf. Available in 130 PS BlueMotion and 150 PS derivatives, this high-tech motor includes Active Cylinder Management. In full BlueMotion guise this means the engine shuts down when the car is coasting and restarts almost instantly when the driver re-applies the throttle.

Drivers who opt for the widely praised 1.0-litre TSI 110 PS turbocharged petrol engine can choose a three- or five-door Golf in SE specification with no DLA Advanced Payment.

A well-equipped car, the Golf SE includes the Composition Media infotainment system, which now has an eight-inch colour touchscreen along with a DAB digital radio, CD player, USB cable connection and Bluetooth telephone connection.

In addition, the SE includes Adaptive Cruise Control, which is a radar-controlled system that monitors the distance to the car ahead and adjusts the vehicle speed accordingly. Traction control and Electronic Stability Control give the driver confidence on the road and the three-year/60,000-mile warranty further ensures peace of mind.

The list of standard equipment on the Volkswagen Golf SE continues. Adaptive Cruise Control takes the strain out of motorway driving. Start/Stop technology, in which the engine shuts down when the car comes to a halt to help reduce fuel consumption, features on all engines. Meanwhile, the electronic parking brake is easy to operate and includes a hill hold function. Driving comfort is enhanced by the precise electric power-assisted steering and electrically adjustable door mirrors.

Following on from the SE is the SE Navigation, which is available with a DLA Advanced Payment of just £99. The Golf SE Navigation includes the latest generation of the Discover Navigation infotainment system that boasts satellite navigation with branded points of interest, a choice of three routes and pre-loaded European map data. Volkswagen's Car-Net 'Guide & Inform' system provides useful information including traffic updates, fuel pricing and parking space availability, among other functions.

Other trims from the updated Golf range that are available on the Motability scheme include the sporty Golf GT and the dynamic Golf R-Line. Those two models are available in Estate form, while the Golf GTD, part of the storied Performance Golf line-up, is included too.

The Golf is now available to customers who receive the following Motability allowances:

•The Higher Rate Motability Allowance

•The Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment

•The War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement

•The Armed Forces Independence Payment

The revised Golf enhances Volkswagen's strong line-up on the Motability scheme. The new Tiguan SUV was added at the start of this year, and joins the up!, Polo, Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Scirocco models as well as the Golf SV, Touran and Sharan people carriers.
